The Hamazkayin San Francisco Nigol Aghpalian Chapter Executive Board celebrated the centennial of the Gomidas Quartet with a wonderful concert on March 9, 2025, at the St. John Armenian Apostolic Church hall.
Dikran Yepremian made opening remarks in Armenian. He said the string quartet was formed in the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1924 by violinist Avet Gabrielyan. The quartet remains active in the Armenian classical and ethnographic music scene and in introducing Armenian audiences to Western classical music. Over the years, the members have obviously changed, but has maintained its depth and Armenian character. Among the well-known musicians in the quartet were Sergei Aslamazyan, Nikola Ter Hovhannisyan, and Mikael Teryan.
