In 2013, the National Educational and Cultural Society announced about "Levon Shant" Awards, aimed at promoting the development of the Armenian dramaturgy and revealing new names in the genre of dramaturgy. It pursued the goal to see the contemporary life, the hero of our times and the problems, which we face today, reflected in the dramaturgy.
The participants of the contest from Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora presented fifty-one plays from which the jury chose the best thirteen plays, which were included and published in the collection of plays. The first prize was awarded to Gurgen Khanjyan’s play "Artavazd – Shidare".
As it was promised before, the award-winner play was to be sponsored by Hamazkayin Society and staged on one of the theaters in Yerevan. Nearly a year has passed, and the performance of the play "Artavazd – Shidare" is ready to be presented to the spectators.
The première will take place on December 19, 2014, at 19.00, at Hamazkayin State Theater (Yerevan, 26 Amiryan Street). The stage director and artist is Armen Mehrabian. Arman Navasardian will perform the role of Artavazd. The performance is sponsored by the National Educational and Cultural Society and supported by the RA Ministry of Culture.
