The plenary session of the Hamazkayin Central Executive Board was held on 14–15 September 2013, in Yerevan, Armenia. The plenary session thoroughly examined the current situation of Hamazkayin’s global presence and existing organizational issues, the activities of Hamazkayin’s regional committees and structures, the needs and projects of its educational institutions, the cultural activities of the larger Hamazkayin family, the importance of further developing the relationship of Hamazkayin with Armenian diasporan youth, the work of the Hamazkayin offices in Armenia and Lebanon, the plan to establish a new office in the United States, as well as various financial, accounting, and construction issues and projects.
The plenary session summed up its evaluation on all the above-mentioned spheres of work and ended with relevant conclusions and decisions. The plenary session also discussed the current situation in Syria, and praised the hard and dedicated work of Syrian-Armenian associations and institutions. The session highlighted the importance of supporting and providing assistance to the Syrian-Armenian community in these hard times. Taking into consideration the budget crisis of the Hamazkayin Institute of Armenian Studies in Aleppo, the session decided to provide special financial support to the institution. Besides the plenary session, the Hamazkayin Central Executive Board also had meetings with Ms. Hranush Hakobyan, the Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia, and Mr. Aram Simonyan, the Rector of Yerevan State University. The meetings focused mainly on a discussion of the current progress of joint projects, as well as the importance of enhancing cooperation within the spheres of culture and education.
