The concert of Hamazkayin Sayat Nova choir and Hamazkayin Ani dance ensemble, dedicated to the anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia, took place under the auspices of the ARF Central Committee, on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Pasadena's PazNaz Church Hall, where 1400 spectators enjoyed Armenian songs and beautiful Armenian dances. Soloist Garnik Sarkissian charmed the audience with national-revolutionary songs. The performance once again ensured that the ninety-year-old Hamazkayin Association has stayed loyal to its mission, and has reached new heights in preserving and promoting the Armenian culture and Armenian art.
Why is it necessary to have a choir when hundreds of singers sing songs in the cafes or on other stages at various spectacular musical evenings? Moreover, on various occasions, singers from Homeland give concerts for the Armenian Communities.
The world of chorus art is quite different. The choirs generally have very carefully selected playlists. They not only bring pleasure to the audience, but also pursue a noble goal. Moreover, choirs serve as musical schools for amateur musicians and singers and give them opportunity to develop their skills.
The choirs attract and involve the audience in their organizations. Members learn how to work with a large group of people, and so they accumulate experience in working together, listening to each other, and being ready for mutual assistance. It is worth mentioning that Gayane Baghdasarian and Michael Avedisian succeeded in injecting these skills into each member, taught them vocal skills so that many choir members assure that they feel like attending musical schools and professional musical courses.
