On April 30, 2025, a literary afternoon honored the writers who were victims of the Armenian Genocide. It was held at the Avetik Isahakyan Central Library in Yerevan, organized by the Yerevan Office of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society.
Since this year marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of the poet Ruben Sevak, who perished in the genocide, the event was entirely dedicated to his literary contributions, life, and work.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from Artashes Shahbazyan, a member of the Hamazkayin Central Executive Board, who emphasized the significance of Ruben Sevak’s contributions to Armenian literature.
Literary critics Knarik Abrahamyan and Naira Sargsyan, as well as Lusine Ginosyan, the chairperson of the Gyumri "Kenats Tsar" NGO, spoke about the writer's creative life.
The literary event was enhanced by performances from students of the Ruben Sevak School of Yerevan, who presented songs and theatrical pieces. Songs by the great Armenian composer Gomidas were also performed by singer Maria Khachatryan and pianist Ruzanna Grigoryan.
Gayane Samuelyan served as the master of ceremonies and recited works by the writer.
The literary afternoon concluded with a speech by Ruzan Arakelyan, director of the Hamazkayin Yerevan Office. She reflected on Sevak’s creative path and said he lived by “national values” and “sowed” national ideology.
