The breath and spirit of Artsakh, its scent and its culture, its traditions and dialect dominated the Hamazkayin M. and H. Arslanian Djemaran on February 29, 2024, as students, teachers, and administration expressed their connection and loyalty to Artsakh in an evocative and practical way. The school day was dedicated to Artsakh and every effort was made to have its spirit pervade the school, from nursery to the senior class.
Indeed, Djemaran students gathered in the elementary school yard in the morning to hear principal Paula Yeghiayan talk about how the school often has days dedicated to cultures and nationalities. This year the focus was Artsakh. She said we all know that Artsakh has been forcibly emptied of its native Armenian population, but it continues to be Armenian patrimony, with a place in Armenian history, rich with history, legacy, culture, monuments, and the native soil of Artsakh Armenians and Armenians in general. The evocation of Artsakh is important, the principal said, which is why the Djemaran has initiated various programs on the day.
