Artsakh photographer Davit Ghahramanyan toured the eastern United States from September 18 to October 2, 2024, accompanied by Hermine Avakyan, manager of the Hamazkayin Artsakh Office.
The exhibitions showcased documentary photographs taken during the 44-Day War, the siege of Artsakh, and the deportation of the native population. The photographs made the case that what happened was a genocide.
The visit had been arranged by the Armenian National Committee of America at the initiative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Eastern Region USA.
Exhibitions took place in the halls of the US Congress and Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, and New York.
At the end of each exhibition, Ms. Avakyan spoke about Hamazkayin publications Anavart Paterazm (Unfinished war), a trilingual photo album); Soaring Words, a collection of prose in English by eight authors from Artsakh; and Artsakh: Vtangvatz Zharangutiun (Artsakh: endangered heritage), another trilingual photo album.
In addition, she showed handicrafts made by children from Artsakh who participate in the programs arranged by the Artsakh Office in Yerevan.
The Hamazkayin chapters in Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, New Jersey, and New York took pains to support the programming.
Also supporting the programs were members of the Armenian Relief Society, Inc.
Rev. Mesrob Lakissian, pastor of the St. Illuminator's Armenian Apostolic Cathedral in Manhattan, played a pivotal role in organizing the event in New York.
The Artsakh Office is grateful to the Armenian National Committee of America for this important initiative and wishes them the best.
