An academic conference titled, “Hovhannes Kajaznuni: The Architect,” had been held on October 15, 2024, an initiative of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Yerevan Office, in collaboration with the Architects’ Chamber of Armenia. The conference aimed to present Hovhannes Kajaznuni’s architectural legacy and his role and significance in the history of Armenian culture. (Kajaznuni was the first prime minister of Armenia and served from June 6, 1918, to August 7, 1919.)
On May 16, 2025, a presentation of the collection of reports from that conference took place in the session hall of the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia. The event was attended by professionals, lecturers, artists, and students from the fields of architecture, culture, and history in Armenia.
Representing the Hamazkayin Central Executive Board were Comrades Artashes Shahbazyan (Armenia), Ara Kevorkian (Lebanon), and Dikran Babikian (USA). The Central Executive Board members welcomed and underscored the importance of the day’s theme and the birth of the book, viewing it as an opportunity to discover and reveal the great Armenian statesman in a new light, through the path of culture.
Ruzan Arakelyan of Hamazkayin’s Yerevan Office delivered a welcoming speech and moderated the event. She noted that the current generation must get to know Kajaznuni not only as a national figure but also as a man of art. She described him as a vivid symbol of dedication and patriotism toward his homeland through the life he lived.
Those in attendance had the opportunity to offer their heartfelt remarks on the book’s publication, emphasizing the significant work carried out by Hamazkayin.
