On April 8, 2021, at the Terlemezyan Hall in Yerevan, the Artsakh Office of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society opened an exhibit of the works of photographer Davit Ghahramanyan taken during the 44-day war in Artsakh.
The director of the office, Hermine Avagyan, made opening remarks.
“Each of these photographs is history, the days we lived and didn’t live, our losses, our pain, our anticipation, and our will to live. These photographs have something to tell us and to tell the world,” Avagyan said.
Among the individuals who addressed messages to the photographer were Spartak Karabakhtsian, chairperson of the Hamazkayin Fund in Armenia; Anna Mnatsakanyan, director of the Panos Terlemezyan College of Fine Arts; and the parents of Kolya Nikoghosyan, one of the martyred heroes portrayed in the photographs.
The singer Suzanna Melkonyan sang national and patriotic songs.
The exhibit encompasses about 100 photographs from different parts of Artsakh where heavy fighting took place, as well as ruined cities, a birth clinic, hospitals, a church, shelters, waiting mothers, women, and children.
The exhibit was set to continue through April 18.
