On April 5, 2025, the traditional Armenian cuisine of Lent and Easter was highlighted at the Hamazkayin Aris Stambolian Cultural Center in Glendale.
This event, organized by Hamazkayin Traditions Unit, demonstrated to the attendees the recipes and preparation methods for rice pilaf with dried fruit, niveeg, khoshaf, Easter choreg, vegetable dzalig, and lentil kyufta. These dishes were then served to the attendees, who highly praised these delicious Armenian foods.
The preparations were presented by Rita Arabian, Hasmig Douzjian, Houri Douzjian, Nune Anmahouni, and Seta Simonian. Interspersed in the food preparation, Aline Bzdigian Shirajian presented the traditional rituals and customs related to Lent, Palm Sunday, and Easter.
The hall was decorated with items related to spring and Easter, as well as Armenian handicrafts, rugs, and a churn, creating an intimate and warm atmosphere alongside the aroma of appetizing food.
The Traditions Unit has held various events, including a program on Armenian needlework and handicrafts, and a 16-part video series on Armenian holidays. The first six videos are already on YouTube.
