The Hamazkayin Schools of Fine Arts held their yearend celebration on June 25, 2024 at the Jirair and Tsoline Khachadurian Hall of the United Armenian College under the auspices of Lebanon’s acting minister of culture Judge Mohammad Wissam El-Mortada. The event was organized by the trustees and administration of the schools. Representatives of religious leaders, former ministers, representatives of bodies and organizations, Mrs. Tsoline Khachadurian, Mr. and Mrs. Hrair and Talin Khachadurian, parents, and students attended.
The administrative director of the schools, Maral Harboyan opened the celebration, noting that the schools are a place where Armenians are made; they not only teach art but also allow Armenian identity to take root. They open up the way for future contributors to Armenian culture to go on to higher education and organizational service.
“Having some 840 young people, boys and girls, gather around Armenian culture is itself a great achievement. It is a reassuring guarantee and Hamazkayin has spent years doing everything in its power, mobilizing professionals and cultural relationships with Armenia alongside dedicated volunteer work, to make this possible for the sake of the new generation.”
She noted that for 2023–24, the graduates of the seventh and tenth grades were dubbed the “Suren Sarkisian” and “Antranig Messerlian” classes. Ms. Harboyan by recalling Hamazkayin’s newly minted motto, “With Light, Toward the Light.” It will, she said, pave the way for new achievements in science, education, and culture for every Armenian in an enlightened Armenian society that is ready to take on contemporary challenges.
