The annual concert of the Hamazkayin “Sayat Nova” choir, held on May 3, 2025, was exceptional in several ways. Under the artistic direction of Mikayel Avetisyan, conducted by Gayane Baghdasaryan-Avetisyan, the stage featured 50 singers from the choir, an orchestra composed of seasoned musicians, and the Hamazkayin “Ani” dance group, led by founding instructors Suzy Parseghian-Tarpinian and Yeghia Hasholian. Together, they performed a repertoire from the renowned Gohar ensemble. For nearly two hours, more than a thousand audience members had the opportunity to enjoy a brilliant program of folk, pop, and Armenian classical compositions.
“Today, we are presenting a united Armenia, as the stage features a unique bouquet composed of Iranian-Armenians, Armenians from Armenia, Lebanese-Armenians, Iraqi-Armenians, Argentine-Armenians, and American-Armenians,” said choir chairperson Garo Kamarian in his opening speech. He thanked the Gohar choir for years of presenting songs cherished by every Armenian soul to the diaspora. He noted that Gohar’s performances have been an inspiration for the “Sayat Nova” choir, setting a standard they strive to emulate. Kamarian also conveyed the congratulations and best wishes from the Gohar ensemble on the occasion of the concert.
