It is the 95th anniversary of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Association. It is the 35th anniversary of the Latakia Chapter, which bears the name of Artsakh native Vahan Navasartian. Navasartian projected a firm will and strong faith in the power of the Armenian language and learning. The chapter has since 1988 held up that torch as a core of Armenian cultural life.
On November 24, 2023, the chapter held an anniversary celebration at the Ararat Hall.
The parish priest, Fr. Vazken Keoshgerian, was present, as were Garo Manjigian, a member of the Hamazkayin Central Executive Board; Raffi Syulahian, the chairperson of the Regional Executive Board for Syria and board member Ara Mutafian; guest speaker Barkev Avakian; Prelacy delegate Avo Garbushian; vestry warden Dr. Minas Balian; Communications Committee member Harut Kaprielian; and representatives of various national, benevolent, athletic, and cultural organizations.
