On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Armenian poet Hamo Sahyan, the Hamazkayin Office in Yerevan organized a literary evening in the village of Lor in Syunik province. The event took place the poet’s house-museum, where guests were greeted by museum director Knkush Harutyunyan.
Hamazkayin Central Executive Board member, writer, and public speaker Artashes Shahbazian spoke on behalf of the organization. Participants had an opportunity to share their thoughts about Sahyan’s work.
Speakers included Hamazkayin Yerevan Office director Ruzan Arakelyan, Professor Davit Gasparyan, Professor Knarik Abrahamyan, Professor Nona Davtyan, Dr. Nanor Simonyan, the freedom fighter Ashot Minasyan, Hamazkayin Artsakh Office director Hermine Avagyan, and literature teacher Anush Mikayelyan.
Garik Der Stepanyan and Diana Harutyunyan performed songs based on the great poet’s works.
The emcee was Vahagn Zakaryan.
At the end of the evening, Ms. Arakelyan noted that collections of poems by contemporary diaspora Armenian writers Garo Armenian and Khatchig Der Ghougassian had recently been published in Yerevan and she presented copies to the museum library and participants.
