On August 19, 2024, at the Naregatsi Art Institute in Yerevan, an exhibit of the works of Samuel Tavadyan, member of the Artsakh Artists’ Union, opened.
Zakar Keshishian, chairperson of the Central Executive Board of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society, Dikran Jinbashian, a long-serving former principal of the Beirut Hamazkayin Djemaran, and Hamazkayin Artsakh Office director Hermine Avakyan were present.
Zakar Keshishian spoke. He said his close friendship with the artist began in Shushi and he has had the opportunity to organize shows for him as well as to attend them. He said he believed in the power of art and hoped that one day the canvasses left behind in Shushi will be found undamaged. “In each creation, light and love are present, and the artist’s belief in the future shows.”
“The Power of Memory” transported the attendees to Artsakh, where they saw and felt the colors of the land. Those colors don’t include dolor; they are the colors of love and faith.
Samuel Tavadyan was born in Artsakh. He received his artistic education at the Shushi Technical School and the Gyurjyan Institute. He has shown in Artsakh, Armenia, Lebanon, Germany, France, Canada, Russia, Georgia, and elsewhere.
The exhibit will continue through September 6. Entry is free. The Naregatsi Art Institute is at Vartanants 16/1 in Yerevan.
