The Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Artsakh Office and “Armav” Publishing jointly launched Artsakh native author Gohar Poghosyan’s Hishoghutyan Guynere (Colors of memory) at the Tumanyan’s Art café in Yerevan. This is Poghosyan’s first book.
The book tells the moving but engaging story of a young mother’s forced migration, told as a story of struggle, faith, and endless love. The book recounts the heavy days of the siege of Artsakh, followed by the expulsion from home during which the young mother saved her newborn child’s life.
Hermine Avakyan, the office manager, opened the event, noting that the book stands apart in that it incorporates three genres, correspondence, memoir, and documentary, to tell a larger story through a personal narrative.
The book is bilingual in Armenian and English. The original Armenian text was rendered in English by Artsakh native translator Gayane Hayrapetyan. The literary expert Armen Avanesian edited the book, while Ms. Avakyan served as artistic editor.
The following people spoke at the event: Mr. Avanesyan, Nanar Simonyan, Zarine Sarajyan, Nona Davtyan, Ms. Hayrapetyan, and Naira Mkrtchyan, chief nurse of the Yerevan Mother and Child Center neonatal intensive care unit.
