With some 40 young people on stage, the Hamazkayin Aleppo Chapter’s Shushi Youth Dance Ensemble held recitals on November 16 and 17, 2024, at the K. Esayian Hall in Aleppo. The ensemble was led by dance instructors Lilit Nalbandyan and Alissa Lakhoyian.
The dancers managed to move spectators’ minds away from their day-to-day concerns for a while. The prelacy supported the program, which was organized by the chapter’s Dance Committee. The prelate was represented at the event by Rev. Fr. Manoug Barikhanian; the Armenian Catholic Church by Rev. Fr. Gomidas Dadaghlian; the Armenian Evangelical community by Rev. Dr. Haroutune Selimian; and the Consulate General of Armenia in Aleppo by Davit Tadevosyan. The prelacy, the relevant body, the Hamazkayin Regional Executive Board, and various other organizations were represented as well.
The event opened with the national anthems of Syria and Amrenia. Maria Momjian-Aghbabian spoke in Armenian about the Armenian love of art and Hamazkayin’s role in disseminating Armenian culture. She praised the work of the Shushi ensemble.
