
On February 19, 2020, on the occasion of the day to give books as gifts, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation “Aram Manukyan” Student Association and the Aparaj society jointly held an event to mark the opening of the “Book Bank.” The Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs, and Tourism of the Republic of Artsakh supported the event, held at Veratznund Square in Stepanakert. The program collects books for school libraries of the rural Kashatagh district. Thanks to a donation, the program is taking place for a second time. The time, the Book Bank placed in the square is collecting for the Aghavni village school library.
Hermine Avakyan, the author who heads the Hamazkayin Office in Stepanakert, gave an opening address. She said giving books is meaningful and beautiful and that the program is becoming a welcome tradition. Books have a teaching and educational role but also embody the desire for self-realization and development, she added.
