Twenty students from various parts of the world have gathered and, through three days of workshops and excursions, will get to know each other, listen to lectures on various fields of Armenian culture, hold workshops, and visit various centers and sights of the Armenian community in Vienna. Hasmik Shahinian, the Hamazkayin Central Executive Board representative for Europe, is also present at the program.
The gathering opened on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Ara Parseghian, the program manager, welcomed the students and provided explanations about the three-day program and related events. Then Hagop Sahagian, the Vienna organizer for the program (a member of the Homenetmen Vienna Chapter Executive Board), gave practical instructions and tips to the participants.
Arin Kalousdian, executive manager of the Hamazkayin Central Executive Board’s Beirut Office, took the floor and briefly presented Hamazkayin’s various programs, particularly the youth, teen, and children’s programs and initiatives.
On the same day, Shaghig Shadoyan presented the history of the establishment of the Armenian community in Vienna, after which the participants visited the St. Hripsime Church, as well as the Armenian Genocide memorial located in the church courtyard.
Melanie Klenjian joined via remote connection and spoke about preparing a podcast, after which the participants, divided into four groups, began work on preparing podcasts on various topics.
During a dance workshop, Teni Matyan explained the unique features and types of Armenian dance, as well as various movements and costumes. The group learned a few dances.
The Homenetmen Vienna Chapter hosted lunch at the Armenian club.
In the evening, the group visited “Time Travel Vienna” and became acquainted with the history of Vienna.
The first day’s program closed with dinner.
