The 100th anniversary of the community library in Oshagan Village was celebrated on October 17, 2014, at the hall of Culture House.
The library with 600 permanent readers, founded in 1914, has always been the favorite place of the local book-lovers within the past 100 years. Its fund currently includes over 20,000 books, always replenished with new publications.
The participants of the event were the past and present members of the library staff, the head of Oshagan Community, guests, partners, donors and the villagers. The welcoming and congratulatory speeches were accompanied by the recitations and musical performances by the pupils attending the coterie classes of Oshagan Culture House.
Nareh Mikaelian and Naira Nahapetean, the representatives of Hamazkayin Office in Armenia, were among the guests arrived to congratulate the 100th anniversary of Oshagan Library.
Nareh Mikaelian made a speech on behalf of Hamazkayin and congratulated the book-lovers of Oshagan emphasizing the great importance of having a 100-year-old library in the cradle of education and church bibliography – Oshagan. She granted books published in the last few years by Hamazkayin – the National Educational and Cultural Association.
The Oshagan library enriched with "18-33. Anthology of Contemporary Poetry, Orhan Pamuk's" Snow "," 13 Plays "," Y. Oshagan", "Nicole Aghpalian - 130", "Hamastegh", "Levon Shant", "Problems of Modern Prose" collections.
The event ended with the performance of the folk dance ensemble of the Culture House.
