The Hamazkayin San Francisco Nigol Aghpalian Chapter hosted a general knowledge competition on February 1, 2026, at the Saroyan Hall of the Khachaturian Armenian Center. Three teams, each comprising eight members, participated in the contest. Members of Hamazkayin were also present in the hall to support the organizers and the participating teams.
The questions covered Armenian history, Armenian art (including cinema, painting, and music), literature, and the history and activities of Hamazkayin.
Each team bore a name: “Ararat,” “Gyumri,” and “Sevan.”
In an intimate and fun atmosphere, the three competing teams participated with great enthusiasm, answering 50 different questions.
The jury reviewed the teams' answers, after which the chair of the executive board, Talar Der Abrahamian, announced that the “Ararat” team had placed first.
As always, a social hour and reception followed.
The board expresses special thanks to Prof. Stephan Astourian for the information booklet he prepared, to Ani Astourian for preparing the competition questions, and to Angelina Arzoumanian for the computer slide presentation of the questions.
The participants and attendees departed happy and satisfied, expressing their gratitude for this educational initiative by Hamazkayin and stating their desire to participate again next year.
