The Hamazkayin Detroit Chapter, on November 16, 2025, celebrated the twentieth anniversary of its "Araks" Dance Group. The festive celebration highlighted the fruits of two decades of dedication, consistent work, and the vital mission of preserving and passing on Armenian dance to younger generations. The performers included the children of former dancers, a fact that underscores the continuity of the dance group’s journey and its transmission of art and culture to new generations.
Nairi Garabedian is the head dance instructor; she brings twenty years of service, dedication, and experience in bringing people to the stage. Dikran Kalla, who originally participated as a dancer, has worked for many years alongside Ms. Garabedian as an assistant instructor. To enrich this year's program, the group hosted guest instructor Garod Haneshyan from Lebanon. Through his professional expertise and collaboration with Ms. Garabedian and Mr. Kalla, he contributed to the quality of this year’s program.
